Since Alden’s Butchers first opened our doors 225 years ago, we have been dedicated to quality produce – and today, we’re trusted by universities, hotels, pubs, restaurants and the public to supply the best meat, game and poultry. We are often asked by retail customers how to prepare certain items. With this in mind Alden’s have now built a kitchen so we can share some of our secrets from procurement to preparation.
Our traditional craft butchers will teach some core butchery skills and the participant will also learn more about meat, where each cut comes from and suggestions to cook each piece. There are: pork, lamb, beef, seasonal game, poultry and sausage-making classes to choose from. Classes run for 3 hours, which includes a generous feast of meat (themed on the meat that evening) wine and even a pudding. The participant will also take home the joint of meat that they have been working on.
